Nusantara: Terowongan Cisumdau, Jawa Barat

Dulu, Terowongan Cisumdawu itu bukan tempat orang foto-foto.
Ia lebih dikenal sebagai tempat harapan.

Harapan supaya cepat jadi.
Harapan supaya macet berkurang.

“Nanti kalau jadi, pasti keren.”

Bertahun-tahun kemudian…
nanti itu akhirnya datang.

Sekarang, Terowongan Cisumdawu berdiri gagah,
diapit perbukitan hijau,
jalanannya mulus,
dan masuk terowongannya bikin pengemudi refleks benerin posisi duduk,
padahal cuma nyetir lurus.

Yang dulu gelap dan penuh debu pembangunan,
sekarang jadi terang dan estetik.
Lampu rapi, lengkung terowongan halus,
dan setiap orang yang lewat pasti kepikiran hal yang sama:
“Wah… ini enak buat foto.”

Cisumdawu kini bukan cuma soal cepat sampai tujuan,
tapi juga soal menikmati perjalanan.
Dari Bandung ke Majalengka jadi lebih singkat,
lebih halus,
dan lebih sedikit drama.

Terowongan ini membuktikan satu hal penting:
sesuatu yang lama ditunggu,
kalau akhirnya jadi,
rasanya memang lebih manis.

Sekarang, Cisumdawu bukan lagi bahan keluhan,
tapi bahan cerita.
Cerita tentang bagaimana sebuah terowongan
berubah dari proyek panjang
menjadi jalur indah
yang bikin orang tersenyum sambil nyetir.

Dulu ditunggu sambil ngeluh.
Sekarang dilewati sambil bilang,
“Untung jadi juga.”

Nusantara: Cusumdawu Tunel

Back then, the Cisumdawu Tunnel wasn’t a place for photos.
It was a place for hope.

Hope that it would be finished soon.
Hope that traffic would disappear.
And hope that we wouldn’t retire before ever driving through it.

When construction first began, the tunnel appeared in the news a lot.
Not because you could use it—
but because it was “still in progress.”
A progress so long that people memorized the phrase “almost done.”

In those days, the only ones passing through were heavy machinery, construction workers, and a collection of very patient prayers.
Drivers could only look from afar and say,
“When this is finished, it’s going to be amazing.”

Years later…
that someday finally arrived.

Today, the Cisumdawu Tunnel stands proudly,
framed by lush green hills,
with smooth roads and tunnel entrances that make drivers instinctively sit up straighter—
even though all they have to do is drive straight.

What was once dark and dusty is now bright and polished.
Neat lighting, clean curves,
and almost everyone driving through thinks the same thing:
“Wow… this would make a great photo.”

Cisumdawu is no longer just about getting somewhere faster.
It’s about enjoying the journey.
Trips from Bandung to Majalengka are shorter, smoother,
and far less dramatic.

This tunnel proves one important thing:
anything that takes a long time to finish
feels extra satisfying once it finally does.

Cisumdawu is no longer a topic for complaints.
It’s a story.
A story of how a long-awaited project
turned into a beautiful route
that makes people smile while driving.

Back then, we waited and complained.
Now we drive through it and say,
“Good thing this finally happened.”
