MUNG, Mantan Coverboy yang Tetap Cool Sepanjang Zaman
Reuni SSEAYP di Bali selalu menghadirkan kejutan. Namun kali ini, perhatian peserta langsung tertuju kepada sosok yang berdiri paling kiri dalam foto: MUNG, IPY yang terkenal paling cool. Konon, beliau adalah mantan Coverboy Majalah Gadis era 1980-an. Benar atau tidak, tidak ada yang berani membantah karena beliau sendiri yang menyebarkan informasinya sejak sarapan.
Begitu tiba di lokasi reuni, MUNG langsung berpose dengan gaya khasnya. Satu tangan menunjuk ke samping, senyum tipis, dan tatapan yang seolah berkata, “Tenang saja, kamera pasti menemukan saya.”
Seorang teman bertanya, “MUNG, apa benar dulu pernah jadi Coverboy?”
MUNG menjawab santai, “Bukan pernah. Sampai sekarang masih layak, hanya majalahnya yang belum sadar.”
Semua langsung tertawa.
Saat sesi foto dimulai, peserta lain sibuk merapikan pakaian. MUNG justru sibuk mencari sudut terbaik agar wajahnya terkena cahaya sempurna.
“Aku sudah belajar ini sejak tahun 80-an,” katanya penuh percaya diri.
Ketika foto selesai, semua orang langsung memeriksa hasilnya. Benar saja, yang paling menonjol di foto adalah MUNG.
Seseorang berkomentar, “Luar biasa. Kita bertujuh foto bersama, tapi yang terlihat seperti pemotretan majalah cuma satu orang.”
MUNG langsung tersenyum lebar.
“Namanya juga profesional.”
Dan sejak saat itu, peserta reuni sepakat bahwa ada tiga hal yang tidak pernah berubah: persahabatan SSEAYP, kenangan Nippon Maru, dan keyakinan MUNG bahwa dirinya masih pantas menjadi Coverboy hingga hari ini.

MUNG, The Coolest IPY and the Eternal Coverboy
Every SSEAYP reunion in Bali brings surprises. This time, however, everyone’s attention was drawn to the man standing on the far left of the photo: MUNG, widely known as the coolest IPY around. Legend has it that he was a Coverboy for Gadis Magazine in the 1980s. Whether the story is true or not, nobody dared to challenge it because MUNG himself had been telling everyone about it since breakfast.
The moment he arrived at the reunion venue, MUNG struck his signature pose. One hand pointing sideways, a confident smile, and a look that seemed to say, “Relax, the camera will find me.”
One friend asked, “MUNG, is it true that you were once a Coverboy?”
MUNG calmly replied, “Not once. I still qualify today—the magazine just hasn’t realized it yet.”
The group burst into laughter.
When the photo session began, everyone else was busy fixing their clothes. MUNG, on the other hand, was searching for the perfect angle to catch the best lighting.
“I learned this back in the 1980s,” he said confidently.
After the photo was taken, everyone checked the result. Sure enough, MUNG stood out the most.
Someone joked, “Amazing. Seven of us took a photo together, but only one person looks like he’s doing a magazine shoot.”
MUNG smiled proudly.
“That’s what professionals do.”
From that moment on, everyone agreed that three things never change: SSEAYP friendship, memories of Nippon Maru, and MUNG’s unwavering belief that he is still Coverboy material even today.
