Jika sukses, biasanya diperpanjang. Jika gagal, ya, bikin lamaran kesana-kemari sebelum waktu terminasinya habis. Yang kalian lihat cuma enaknya menjadi GM saja, kan?
Hehe.

“Sir, why doesn’t a GM need to show off their leadership—why should the Deputy / EAM be the one in the spotlight?”
To answer this, you need to understand two philosophies:
- The philosophy of a Deputy: standing in front, but not leading.
- The philosophy of a great GM: one who can produce new GMs.
From these two ideas alone, you can already see why a GM’s leadership doesn’t need constant spotlighting. A GM’s real job is to train the EAM to handle any problem thrown at them in the field. In Jakarta-style language: DON’T GO EASY ON THEM.
On the other side, the EAM should be thankful that their GM has granted them such broad authority. Only a truly sincere GM can do this. If a GM keeps pulling every little problem back to their own desk, it means they haven’t fully committed to raising a strong EAM yet.
That’s why I often say: a hotel GM is like a Commander-in-Chief. Not much different from a symbol—and at the same time, the stabilizer of the company in achieving performance targets set in the Management Contract: revenue, GOP, NOP, and other indicators agreed upon with the Board of Directors.
If the GM succeeds, the contract usually gets extended.
If they fail… well, they start sending résumés everywhere before the termination date kicks in.
You all only see the glamorous side of being a GM, right?
Hehe.
Warm regards.
