IT Hotel – Sistem yang Tidak Boleh Terlihat, tapi Wajib Berfungsi

Di hotel modern, tamu mungkin tidak pernah bertemu staf IT, tetapi hampir semua pengalaman mereka bergantung padanya. Mulai dari proses reservasi, kartu kunci kamar, Wi-Fi, hingga sistem pembayaran—semuanya berjalan di balik layar digital. Ironisnya, keberhasilan IT justru diukur dari ketidakhadirannya. Selama sistem berjalan lancar, IT dianggap tidak ada. Namun ketika jaringan mati lima menit saja, hotel mendadak terasa seperti kembali ke era mesin tik.

Secara akademis, teknologi informasi telah menjadi tulang punggung operasional perhotelan. Buhalis dan Leung (2018) dalam Tourism Management menegaskan bahwa integrasi sistem IT meningkatkan efisiensi operasional hotel hingga 25%. Data dari Oracle Hospitality Report (2022) menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari 70% hotel global kini mengandalkan Property Management System (PMS) terintegrasi untuk mengelola reservasi, housekeeping, dan keuangan. Artinya, kegagalan sistem bukan lagi gangguan kecil, melainkan risiko operasional serius.

Di Indonesia, survei Asosiasi Hotel Teknologi Indonesia (AHTI, 2023) mencatat bahwa gangguan sistem IT menjadi salah satu penyebab utama keluhan tamu bisnis, terutama terkait koneksi internet dan sistem pembayaran. Menurut Dimas Prabowo, IT Manager hotel bintang lima di Jakarta (wawancara, 2023), tantangan terbesar IT hotel adalah menjaga stabilitas sistem sambil mengikuti perkembangan teknologi yang cepat. Penelitian Law et al. (2020) mendukung hal ini dengan menyebutkan bahwa keandalan sistem digital berpengaruh langsung terhadap loyalitas tamu.

Kesimpulannya, IT hotel adalah fondasi tak terlihat dari pelayanan modern. Ketika teknologi bekerja dengan baik, tamu merasa nyaman tanpa menyadari alasannya. Dalam dunia perhotelan digital, layanan terbaik sering kali berasal dari sistem yang bekerja diam-diam, konsisten, dan tanpa gangguan.

In modern hotels, guests may never meet IT staff, yet almost every aspect of their experience depends on them. From reservation processes and room key cards to Wi-Fi access and payment systems, everything operates behind a digital curtain. Ironically, IT success is measured by invisibility. As long as systems function smoothly, IT goes unnoticed. However, when networks fail for even five minutes, the hotel suddenly feels technologically outdated.

Academically, information technology has become the backbone of hotel operations. Buhalis and Leung (2018), in Tourism Management, state that integrated IT systems can improve hotel operational efficiency by up to 25 percent.
