CATATAN PERJALANAN: DAGO ATAS, KOPI, DAN PERJUANGAN MENCARI PARKIR
Ada satu hukum tidak tertulis kalau berkunjung ke Dago Atas, Bandung pada malam hari: pemandangan boleh gratis, tetapi parkir adalah perjuangan.
Malam itu kami mampir ke Coffee Asa’an, salah satu tempat ngopi di kawasan Dago Atas yang menawarkan kombinasi berbahaya: kopi, udara Bandung yang sejuk, dan pemandangan lampu kota yang bisa membuat orang lupa bahwa besok masih harus bekerja.
Begitu sampai, masalah pertama langsung muncul: parkiran penuh! Mobil-mobil sudah berjajar seperti peserta audisi yang semuanya merasa paling pantas mendapatkan tempat. Akhirnya, mobil harus diparkir di ruas jalan. Di Dago Atas, sepertinya kemampuan mencari parkir merupakan bagian dari kompetensi dasar wisatawan. Kalau tidak lulus ujian parkir, jangan berharap bisa menikmati kopi.
Setelah perjuangan parkir selesai, barulah kami naik ke area coffee shop. Dari tempat duduk, Kota Bandung terlihat seperti hamparan bintang yang sengaja diturunkan ke bumi. Lampu rumah, kendaraan, gedung, dan berbagai tempat usaha membentuk panorama warna-warni yang sangat cantik.
Di sinilah teori sederhana saya kembali terbukti: kopi terasa lebih mahal kalau diminum sambil melihat lampu kota dari ketinggian. Bukan karena kopinya berubah, tetapi karena suasananya membuat kita merasa sedang menjadi orang penting.
Sementara teman-teman menikmati kopi dan pemandangan, saya justru sibuk memastikan satu hal: “Mobil kita masih ada, kan?”
Maklum, setelah parkir di pinggir jalan, menikmati pemandangan kota terasa lebih tenang kalau kendaraan masih berada di tempatnya.
Dago Atas memang punya daya tarik tersendiri. Banyak coffee shop tumbuh dengan konsep serupa: tempat sederhana untuk minum kopi, tetapi menawarkan pengalaman yang jauh lebih besar—udara sejuk, panorama malam Bandung, lampu warna-warni, obrolan panjang, dan foto yang akhirnya lebih banyak daripada minum kopinya.
Malam itu akhirnya kami pulang membawa dua hal: kenangan indah dan kesadaran bahwa mencari parkir di Dago Atas membutuhkan doa, kesabaran, serta sedikit keberuntungan.
Coffee Asa’an mengajarkan satu pelajaran penting: kalau parkirnya susah, jangan menyerah. Bisa jadi setelah perjuangan itu, pemandangan Bandung yang menunggu memang sepadan.

TRAVEL NOTES: DAGO ATAS, COFFEE, AND THE GREAT PARKING BATTLE
There is one unwritten rule when visiting Dago Atas, Bandung, at night: the view may be free, but parking is a serious struggle.
That evening, we stopped by Coffee Asa’an, one of the coffee shops in the Dago Atas area offering a rather dangerous combination: coffee, Bandung’s cool mountain air, and a spectacular view of the city lights that can easily make you forget that you still have to work the next morning.
As soon as we arrived, the first problem appeared: the parking area was full! Cars were lined up as if they were contestants in an audition, each convinced that they deserved the last available parking spot. Eventually, we had to park along the roadside. In Dago Atas, apparently, the ability to find parking should be considered a basic tourism competency. If you fail the parking test, you may never get to enjoy your coffee.
After surviving the parking challenge, we finally made our way into the coffee shop. From the seating area, Bandung looked like a sea of stars deliberately brought down to earth. House lights, vehicles, buildings, and businesses created a colorful nighttime panorama that was absolutely beautiful.
And this is where my simple theory was proven once again: coffee tastes more expensive when you drink it while looking at city lights from above. Not because the coffee itself has changed, but because the atmosphere makes you feel like a very important person.
While everyone else enjoyed the coffee and the scenery, I was secretly concerned about one thing:
“Is our car still there?”
After all, once your vehicle has been parked along the roadside, enjoying the Bandung skyline becomes much more relaxing when you know the car is still exactly where you left it.
Dago Atas certainly has its own special charm. Numerous coffee shops have emerged with similar concepts: a simple place to enjoy coffee, but offering an experience much greater than the drink itself—cool mountain air, panoramic views of Bandung at night, colorful city lights, long conversations, and photographs that somehow end up outnumbering the cups of coffee.
That evening, we went home carrying two things: beautiful memories and the realization that finding parking in Dago Atas requires prayer, patience, and a little bit of luck.
Coffee Asa’an taught us one important lesson: when parking is difficult, don’t give up. The beautiful Bandung skyline waiting for you might just make the struggle worthwhile.
